TEXAS LIGHTNING

SOPHOMORE JUNIOR SENIOR SHOWCASE TOURNAMENT

AND YOUTH CUP

April 13, 14 & 15, 2006

 

The Texas Lightning Sophomore Junior Senior Showcase Tournament gives players the opportunity to “Showcase” their talents through its exhibition format. Over 200 college coaches/representatives from NCAA Div. I, II, III, NAIA and NCJAA college soccer programs are expected to attend this years’ event. Each team will play a 3 game minimum. In order to comply with NCAA rules, each team will play 3 round-robin games over the 2 days. Points will be accumulated which will result in a winner from each bracket. All Showcase games will be played at one location, Harold Patterson Sports Complex, to maximize player exposure to college coaches. Showcase games will be played on Friday and Saturday ONLY! Team Registration (from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM) and College Seminar (from 7:00 to 8:00) will be held on April 13^th at the Arlington Hilton, 2401 E. Lamar Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006.

 

** This year, for the first time, Freshmen are invited to attend The Sport Source College Seminar.

 

The Texas Lightning Youth Cup is offered to Academy teams, U-8 through U-10, both boys and girls and Competitive Teams, U-11 through U-15, both boys and girls. There will be a 3 game minimum with bracket advancement to a final. YOUTH Cup Games will be played at both Cedar Hill and Harold Patterson Sports Complex. There will be no games on Easter Sunday. Team registration will be April 13^th at the Arlington Hilton. 

 

APPLICATION:  Must be completed on-line in its entirety @ www.texaslightning.org

You will need:

1. 2 copies of your official team roster
2. Guest Player Releases, if applicable
3. Notarized Medical Release for each player, including Guest Player(s), if Applicable
4. Travel Papers/Cards, if applicable

 

DEADLINE: March 14, 2006 * Application fee MUST be received within 5 days of your application in order to be considered for acceptance. By submitting your application, you are agreeing to participate in the tournament if accepted. *Failure to submit entry fee does NOT serve as notification that your team has chosen not to participate.  Tournament Director must be notified.

 

NOTICE OF ACCEPTANCE: Accepted Teams will be posted on the website, www.texaslightning.org on March 21, 2006. Teams not accepted will not be posted on the website and will receive a full refund.  In case of tournament cancellation, 50% of fee will be retained to cover tournament start-up costs.  If you apply for both Dallas Cup and Texas Lightning Showcase and make the Dallas Cup quarterfinals, you will be refunded your entire entry fee and a standby team will replace your team in the Showcase Schedule.

 

TEAM REQUIREMENTS:

Showcase & U-11 through U-15 - Roster Size - 18 players with up to 5 guest players.  All players must be registered with the teams’ state association for insurance purposes. Guest players must have releases.    (See NTXsoccer.org for form)

 

Youth Cup – Academy Teams – Roster Size – 14   No guest players

 

Age Groups:    Showcase - Both boys and girls U-16, U17, and U-18/19.

                                    MUST be registered with your state association. 

Youth Cup -    Both boys and girls U-8 through U-10 Academy Teams

Both boys and girls U-11 through U-15 Competitive Teams

MUST be registered with your state association.

 

AWARDS:      Academy - Participation

                        Youth Cup - U-9 through U-15  -  1^st & 2^nd Place

                        Showcase – Round Robin Games  (No awards given)

                       

FEE:                Showcase - $695.00

                        Youth Cup –    U-  8 through U-10 $250.00

                                                U-11 through U-15 $425.00

PARTICIPATION:       Showcase - 3 games

   Youth Cup – 3 game minimum with advancement to a final

 

REFEREES:  When available, all games will use a 3-man referee system. Referees will be USSF certified. 

 

LODGING:     Teams are required to utilize the hotels designated by the tournament.

*In order for teams to participate in the 2006 Texas Lightning Sophomore, Junior Senior Showcase Tournament/Youth Cup, they must be USSF State Affiliates and provide an Official State Roster.          

                    

**YOUTH CUP Please be aware that games will begin each day at approximately 7:30 AM with the last game beginning at approximately 8:00 PM, so make your traveling arrangements accordingly.  We wish you to be aware of this schedule in the event your school does not recess for Good Friday.

 

*** SHOWCASE GAMES – Please be aware that games will begin at 8:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday with the last game beginning at 4:00 PM so please make your travel arrangements accordingly in the event your school does not recess for Good Friday.
